To start your project, simply choose a name, topic and genre. Once you have completed this first step, the programming process will begin. However, this can be affected by hacker attacks, random events and a lack of money or energy from your character.

One of the most interesting parts of DevTycoon 2 is its perfectly designed progression system. During your developer adventure, you will live in a universe that will evolve in much the same way as in real life. Every so often, new consoles will appear and replace existing ones, and it'll be necessary to spend your money wisely to adapt to the market.
